I started studying art because I wanted to be a better writer.

Artists notice things, like details and colors. They’re always aware of perspective and balance. I needed to practice that noticing, that awareness, for my writing’s sake.

So I bought a pack of artist-grade colored pencils, a sketchbook, and a book of instructions, and began to practice. After a time, I bought acrylic paints, then watercolors, learning all I could from books and classes and artists online.

When I had to think through a scene in a novel I was writing, I would turn to my art desk and paint. The painting freed my mind to create on many levels and often questions I had about my story would get answered as I worked.

Years went by. Novels were published. (See rhondachandler.com). Until one day all that art began to insist on a life of its own. Its time had come.

I create art that decorates useful, everyday products for thinking and living through my Zazzle shop at Brush and Pen. I think people are influenced and inspired by the things they surround themselves with, so I strive to make products that are fun and interesting to look at. Products that could make people happy. Because Happy is good fuel for life.

I am grateful beyond anything that I get to live a life creating books and creating art. And I’m grateful for you.
